 IBAN

BMI Bank has advised all its customers in the statement of account that from 31st January, 2012, any inter bank transfers in Bahrain and outside Bahrain (IBAN mandated countries) will require an IBAN.

IBAN is a requirement of Central Bank of Bahrain for all the banks in the Kingdom of Bahrain that offer customer account services for domestic and cross-border electronic fund transfers and payments. It is an expanded version of the basic bank account number, intended for use internationally, which uniquely identifies an individual account at a specific financial institution, in a particular country, which makes account transfers time efficient and error free.

BMI Bank shall not be responsible for any IBAN generated as a result of erroneous/incorrect information or submission of a wrong account details by the customer.”
